Genlisea aurea Itacambira, Northern Minas Gerais, Brazil

All the species belonging to this genus are characterised by the total absence of a root system (a character shared with the genus Utricularia) and by Heterophyllia, consisting in the presence of two types of leaves: green leaves with a photosynthetic function and modified hypogeal leaves, called rhizophylls, which carry out some of the typical functions of roots, such as anchoring the plant to the ground, but also the capture of small soil organisms.
