Darlingtonia californica, the cobra lily, is a carnivorous plant of the Sarraceniaceae family and lives in the mountainous areas of California and Oregon. It does not like high temperatures of the substrate so it must be grown carefully during the summer months keeping it cool.

In summer it can be placed in a sunny position and buried in damp sphagnum, making sure to keep the substrate at a low temperature.
A substrate consisting of acidic peat moss and perlite is used on the bottom and vegetating peat moss on the surface. Water only with rainwater or distilled water, keep the saucer always full.

Darlingtonia does not like very high temperatures, even above 24 degrees in the soil can be fatal for this beautiful plant. During the hot summer months it is advisable to cool every evening with fresh distilled water
